Back to School

welcome back“We had a really good day today, Dad.”

These are some of the most comforting words I can ever hear when I come back from my work day. These are the words I long to hear. Thank you Lord. Thank you for blessing my wife and children in this way.

It has been a busy summer. Whew! I don’t reflect too much on the past but when I do I am often amazed at what as taken place. Did we really do that? It’s a lot like summiting a mountain. From even a short distance portions may look impossibly steep. Then, once your feet are on the slope you see and experience that there are plenty of footholds, plenty of terrain under you that is not as straight down as it appeared before. On your way back down you look behind you again at that impossible slope and somehow, even though you just conquered it, it looks every bit as ridiculous as it did before.

So it often is with our obstacles, which praise God, are never insurmountable. I increasingly am thankful for our bussiness. We’ve been given work to do, goals to accomplish and this is good. However, I am also very thankful for the transition into the next school year. This is a time for us to re-evaluate perhaps, take a look at what is working and what is not, pray thoughtfully about our goals for the children and be open to new answers.

Thank you Cyrus for your words of encouragement, it made me aware that we are having a back to school day today, too. And it is good.
