“We can’t do it unless we do it right, son.”

father-and-sonLittle Billy woke up at the crack of dawn. He waited patiently to hear the sound of his Dad stirring in the next room. Today was the day that they would be heading out into the woods, together. Billy had been thinking about this time all week.

“There he is!”

“Dad! Dad! Let’s get going!”

“Oh, I don’t know, son,” replied his Dad. “I didn’t get everything ready like I thought I would be able to. I don’t think its going to work out for today, son.”

Billy’s face dropped. “Dad we don’t need anything. We have everything we need right now.”

“Well, we shouldn’t do it, unless we do it right, son.”

“Do it right, do it right,” Dad muttered to himself. Where had he gotten that phrase? Why was it popping out of his mouth right now?

Dad paused and thought for what seemed like an eternity.

“You know, Billy, you’re right. We do have everything we need, right here. Thank you son for reminding me. Let’s go get the coffee going!”

Billy beamed. “Alright! Let’s go, Dad!”

Billy’s Dad remembered that learning about God’s creation isn’t like learning calculus. Spending time with his son walking in the woods and fields requires very little preparation. Dress appropriately, bring some water and a snack and quit wasting the daylight!

Get out there!

There are plenty of things you need to prep for. Thankfully the good Lord has fully prepared us to explore. It is in us and it is an important quality that needs exercise or it will atrophy and plenty of potential with it.

Our oldest child has shown us a great deal about God's kindness and mercy. Thanks buddy. You"re the best! So excited for you!
