Happy New Year! We hope your Christmas and New Year have been filled with joy!

To begin 2013 we would like to cordially invite you take part in the active growth of the Homeschool Institute of Science. We were conceived almost exactly one year ago today with our mission being:  to equip and empower parents to bring their homeschool science program to life!

Your experience matters

We would like to know more about: 1) why science education is important to you; 2) the resources you have been using; and 3) what would make your home science program the best imaginable.  Remember: YOU ARE THE EXPERTS! HIS, Inc. hopes to come along side you and help equip you for the task. We believe strongly that this organization can flourish only as much as we stay connected with and learn from the people we serve.

So, we have put together a little online survey. Please take the time to fill it out. This survey will, in large part, help to guide our ship as we grow.

Upcoming homeschool conference:  February 8-9, 2013 in Moscow, ID – Registration is Free

In addition to working together in the realm of science education we have a heart for the homeschooling family. We know the great challenges and the great joys of home education and we would like to do our part to encourage us all in this ongoing and sometimes overwhelming task.

Our first ever homeschool conference, A Winter Encouragement, will be held Friday, February 8 and Saturday, February 9 at the Paradise Hills Church of God in Moscow, Idaho (510 Northwood Drive). The Homeschool Institute of Science is sponsoring this event and the folks at Paradise Hills have graciously allowed us to use their facility.

Registration is free because we want you here regardless of your economic situation. We hope that out of town folks may be able to come because of this incentive. We have also arranged housing accommodations with some local families and are in the process of securing special conference rates for several Moscow hotels. Please RSVP.

A Winter Encouragement will showcase two great friends of our ministry. Robert Andrews, of Rice, WA and author of several excellent books including, The Family: God’s Weapon For Victory, will be sharing with us on topics that are critically relevant for the homeschooling parent. His years of experience as a homeschooling father, and now grandfather, and his insightful and thoughtful teaching are sure to encourage you. Robert will be speaking multiple times during the conference and there will most certainly be time to ask him questions of your own.

Dr. Gordon Wilson, will be sharing his vision for Science Education: Why? Gordon has a wealth of experience as a biologist, as a science educator of all aged children, in every educational setting imaginable including homeschool, college campuses, and K12 schools, and as a student of God’s word in this area. The Homeschool Institute of Science is pleased to have him as a founding board member.

Lastly, the Homeschool Institute of Science will be sharing with you our vision for Science Education: How? This will include a detailed look at what we will be offering in 2013 and beyond.

The full conference program can be downloaded here.

We hope to see you February 8-9!

all the best,

Will

Amazing St. Paddy's Day feast by the Irish beauty, Mrs. Boyd. And a birthday apple pie from my sweet mother-in-law. I am blessed.
What a season! The Moscow Mechanics placed 5th out of 20 at the Idaho FTC Championship in Meridian this past weekend. And we had the high score of the first 6 rounds with our good friends A2Z Robotics. And we were the first pick for the elimination rounds and so competed in the semifinals. I am super proud of this young, hard-working, fun, and competitive bunch! #ftc18552 #moscowmechanics #FIRSTIdaho #firstinspires #Robotics #STEM #homeschoolscience
