North American Birds and Their Ecosystems

SPRING SEMESTER CLASS ANNOUNCEMENT: North American Birds and Their Ecosystems.

We will be exploring a wide variety of North American birds and their ecosystems through slideshows, lectures, field guide study, and some limited field time. Students will be introduced to bird taxonomy and bird species roles in their home ecosystems. Ecosystem explorations will include Arctic tundra, Bering Sea, Great Plains, Eastern deciduous forest, Salt Marsh, and more.

As part of the resources for this class I have purchased a class subscription to the Birds of North America Database run by the Cornell Laboratory of Ornithology. Here is the link: https://birdsna.org/Species-Account/bna/home

There will be weekly readings and a short report/presentation to conclude the class.

Class offered through White Horse Hall Homeschool Cooperative. Register here.

Classes start January 19-March 9, 1:45-3:15, at the Bridge Bible Fellowship in Moscow, Idaho.

Ages 9+. $100 per student for the semester.

Why PBL

Project-based learning is the best way to homeschool your children in the sciences. PBL should have opportunities to learn both application and concepts and the two should reinforce each other.
