I am really excited about this bunch of young ecologists and what our class has been able to accomplish this semester. Project W.H.E.A.T., with the support of the University of Idaho Arboretum & Botanical Garden and Decagon Devices has been collecting phenology data on a cloned lilac species planted at several locations at the arboretum. They have also installed environmental sensors at two locations to determine what kind of impact soil moisture and temperature have on when these plants bud, flower, and go into dormancy. They have just finished their first season of study. I cannot wait to see what the future has in store for this eager group and for the Water, Health, Ecology, and Timing Study!
